What will 285/30/18 Tires do to my Ride and Overall Performance??
Hi Guys,
I have an 84 with c5 rims on it. My gear ration was stretched a little bit when I put the 18's on the rear with the 275/40 tire. I'm on a budget, and I have found a set of tires that definately please the wallet. The 285/30's are cheaper than the 285/35's due to the demand of the tire size. I guess the 285/35 is an odd tire. But I really want to get the acceleration that I lost from upgrading to the larger wheel/tire size and still have some money left. I know the 285/30 will have a smaller diameter than my stock 16 inch rims, which were almost 26 inches exactly. The 285/30's will have a 24.8 inch diameter. I would like to get an idea of what to expect with going with a shorter sidewall aside from a rougher ride (although I can't imagine how much harder it can get compared to the Goodyear Runflats). Thanks!
