Best and cheapest way to get the cooling fan to come on sooner in a 96 with an Lt4?

Thanks

I asked this question not long ago and the only responses I got were, "Spend $350 on the Hypertech Power Programmer." That does not qualify as cheap in my book - one of the main reasons I bought a C4 is because it is relatively affordable. I even asked about any person or auto place that can just do the ECM/fan temp programming for a small fee, and nobody seemed able or interested in helping. Good luck.

Get the manual switch kit and turn on 1 or both at will. Says LT1 only but I don't why maybe someone does? Maybe it only works with auto?

Unfortunately as the 96 is OBD2 there are no cheap options. Unless you are in a location that it would be possible to change back to an OBD1 PCM, and then you may be into it more then the Hypertech.

The 94-95 can be programed fairly cheap, but there are not many options for the OBD2.

PS
If all you want is a lower temp for the fan to turn on. You could get a universal fan controller that is adjustable to use in place of the PCM.

A manual switch is the cheapest. The 96 has a 3 relay setup where both fans run in either low or high speed you can always get low speed to come on with the A/C. So the high speed is usually the one that is wired in. A DPDT switch is all you need and a little wire. I have a diagram I made some time back for another post.

I bought a three way switch at ace....grounded the middle wire, ran the other two to the radiator fan and aux fan...can turn one or both on, for a couple of bucks....

I installed a 160 Degree hypertech thermostat($25) and bought a new Hypertech power programmer off eBay($240), I know this isn't what you probably wanted to hear, but when it comes to Vette what is cheap?after all it's the vette tax😂😂

Yup! this turns the fans on Low speed full time, and High speed occasionally dependent on OAT, ECT, and Condenser pressure. Assuming of course the 96 works the same as the 95.

Besides; your more comfortable inside the car anyhow..
