I it wasn't for the moving the steering rack part I would be all over it. Its not hard to move the rack but I would hate to mess up the steering geometry.
four big things to consider
1. moving steering rack
2. headers
3. hole in the hood
4. weight
if your just wanting a "Hot Rod" build a big inch small block and none of these will be a factor.
1. We dimpled the steering column. Can send pics.
2. 1970 vette headers for a bbc only need minor adjusts.
3. 2" rise hood will more than clear.
4. Mine weights 3225 with 22 gallons of gas and 12 quarts of oil. But I have an aluminum block.
Also worth noting, a fully dressed L98 is around 600lbs to start with.
A dressed BBC is 675.
You can get that weight gap pretty close, with AL heads, lighter flywheel etc.
An all AL BBC would actually be lighter than the L98 SBC that came in the car.
