Do you need an OptiSpark?

Hi seabright, the statement and ad we posted was copied direct from AIP. Also we have a AIP Opti on our Turbo Charged Camaro for over a yr and it has held up fine. And it is driven hard.
I talked to Kevin at AIP yesterday about extending their warranty. I explained to them that it would show that AIP has confidence in their Opti's and it would help customers in their decision on who's Opti they will purchase. Kevin was very receptive and is going to see what they can do. He mentioned possibly some type of extended warranty when purchased through SacCityCorvette as a test bed since we promote them on CF and LS1Tech. So we will see what they come up with and I'll keep you posted.
They are preparing to go to SEMA next week so probably wont hear back until the following week.
Thank you,
Christian

Not sure what you are talking about when you say "show some initiative in providing reliable data for the products you promote."
The info in our ads is from the supplier. We do not add or take anything away from their description of their products. They know their products better then us so I do understand your statement.
Also Kevin at AIP is still working on getting a better warranty.

Hi Seabright,
To answer your question about post #32&33, Yes we do carry AIP Optisparks, so that is reliable/reputable data.
As for the questions about AIP's Opti's here is the number for Kevin at AIP.
(831) 621-1703 or you can email him at kevin@aipelectronics.com. He is very helpful and will answer any questions you have about their products.
Thank you,
Christian

He may need an opti (?). You might, also, tell him the name the manufacturer of the opti. I can't get an answer from SacCityCorvettes, nor AIP. Why the secret? MAYBE YOU ARE HAVING TOO MUCH FUN AT THE PARTY.

My opti ended up dying due to the small screws that held on the rotor came out. When these are assembled, do you put lock tite on the screws? or do I need to disassemble it and put it on so I don't have the same problem?

I haven't heard of any of the rotor screws coming loose on the AIP Opti's, but it probably wouldn't hurt to loctite those little screws just for added insurance if your in there.
Thanks for your business and if you have more questions let me know.

I have a serious question....
About 3 years ago I purchased a Chandler Motorsports Vented Optispark for my 95 and a year later it's optical sensor blew.
I had paid extra for their lifetime warranty and they replaced the unit under warranty and guess what happened a year later? Yes, almost to the day it too crapped out and left me dead on the road and I needed to get flatbedded to my garage. I do all my own work and have since I was 14. Well, they wouldn't warranty the second time. Therfore I purchased a new old stock GM unit manufactured in Mexico for $400 from EBay.....that was 2 years ago and it's still going strong.
Most of us would pay a reasonable premium to not have to install another Optispark.....the original GM Opti in my car lasted some 15 years with that Mitsubishi sensor they refuse to sell unless you buy 10,000 units.
So, what is the track record to date on the AIP units, how long have they been around?

Sorry 95BLKVette, its been very busy this time of the year. We didn't have
time to go look up and count how many AIP Opti's we have sold until now.
In the last approximate yr and a half we sold 68 and AIP has warrantied 2 possibly 3 that were purchased through us. Hope that answers your question.
Thank you,
Christian

My son is a QC engineer in NH CT. We got talking about reliability an electronics. He told me 3 in 10k was a concern that engineering needs to get involved 3 in 100k is acceptable and 3 in 68 is shut the line down until engineering fixes it a loser financially. Even worse it kills the branding of the company. So chose wisely. I have no vested interest just an objective opinion of a QC engineer with various degrees and national certifications in QC.
Thank you
Christian
