Default 96 Grand Sport oil filter ?

What is the correct oil filter for a 96 C4 Grand Sport Corvette? I'm looking for the OEM filter with a photo if at all possible. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

P.

This takes a standard 96 Corvette filter. I am partial to K & N filters. For the K & N you could use either at HP-2001 or the PS-2001. Or the AC Delco PF52 series.

It would appear that if the original was BLACK that they have changed to case color to BLUE. Looking at various sites, they are all blue. If you really need BLACK, then mask off the filter label and spray paint it BLACK.

Sorry, I would think that the most important thing is to get a GOOD filter that will not fail on you and does its job to prolong the engine life.

I didn't know there was a difference.
The '96 owners manual just lists PF52 and nothing about UPF52

I would just use the Mobile 1 filter. It is black. I change mine about every 1500 to 2000 miles, annually, anyway.

Sounds like you are taking it to a show or otherwise being judged for originality? If so, you might get lucky doing an extensive search and stumble upon some NOS black PF52 AC/Delco filters, but personally I would not use them due to their age. The next best thing would probably be to get a new PF52 and mask off the label before painting black, as someone else suggested... maybe do it a bit sloppy so it looks 20 years old (not new & perfect).

I agree with other responders: compared to the PF52, there are far better filters available for your Grand Sport. My comments above are directed only toward getting an "original factory-looking" filter.

Actually, oil filters have always had uniform paint jobs, so a sloppy job with a rattle can would looked exactly like.....a sloppy job with a rattle can.
Get the UPF52 and be done with it. They are black and RockAuto has a dozen left in stock this morning (after I ordered four), plus the price is right: $8 each.

Yes, the car is a national judging candidate. Thanks for all the suggestions.
