Default 1993 Fuel Injectors

In searching several posts, it appears that Jon at FIC is the man to get injectors from. It seems reasonable that the 22 year old injectors in my 93 automatic could use freshening up. The car runs great now, but I wanted to reach out to you guys to see if installing a set of new injectors normally have a positive effect on performance. My current modifications are 3.54 gears, American Racing Headers, no cats, EGR and Air Pump delete and K&N Filter with cut lid. In 2008, I got a LT1 long block from Chevrolet and the engine has about 20,000 miles on it now, but the old fuel system was installed. If there are any positives to getting new injectors, should I stay with the factory 22 lb.? I do see the 24 lb. readily available but not the 22 lb.. Also, the replacement seems pretty straight forward, but any tips are welcome. Thanks.

I understand what you are saying and I really don't want to spend $400 unnecessarily! I've seen, and it could be hype, that the newer injectors have a better spray pattern and do yield results. How much gain from the multi-nozzle spray can't be determined because some of the injectors replaced could have been bad. I'm just trying to get a little more power without going in to the engine. A cam swap was quoted from 3 shops ranging between $1,600 to $2,000 for Labor only. I guess I should be happy with what I have, but we all want more! Since this is a play car, I would like to be able to really smoke the 315 / 35's from a standing start. Any suggestions?

The other issue with the old Multec injectors is that ethanol is not kind to the injector seals, and could cause a fuel leak. Also, the Bosch III's are quieter.

Stay with the stock 22# injectors for the car. You will not feel a SOTP improvement with new injectors, but it should run better. The LT1 injectors are a easy change out if you want to do it yourself.

Replace the whole thing. They probably are Multec and aren't ethanol resistant because the fuel cools the coils and ethanol is supposed to eat the coils up.

I have the newer designs so I send them for cleaning and testing every few years. You have stock injectors so if you spend money to clean and test it, you probably are throwing good money after bad injectors.

You might see huge SOTP increases using the new injectors simply because of the Placebo effect. OTOH, if, and I suspect they are, the injectors are crudded up like mine are every few years, it could help performance but on a very minute level you won't notice till they are dead.

I'd get the reman units from FIC and be done with it. Test and clean every 3 or 4 years.

I know the injectors are at least 12 years old without being serviced, as that's how long I've had the car. When you say go with the Reman's, are you talking about the Bosch III's that are 24 lb.? I'm not opposed to buying new as I do plan on keeping the car. Please advise, or should I just see what John recommends? Thanks!

I doubt you will feel a power increase. Get some 1.6 roller rockers installed

Default Bosch III

I recently got some of the Bosch III 24lbs. injectors from John at FIC. Easy install. Runs great now. I had developed a miss, so I had to replace mine. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong if you are planning to keep the car.

I was just glad it was the injectors and not the dreaded OPTI. I dread that day.

WTF. I wish I lived closer to forum members who had issues like these. 16-20 hours for a cam swap?? WTF. I'd do that job for $500 and enjoy every minute of it.
