Just a question here.. Blp sells the 950 and 1000 hp main bodies.. Would you recommend either one for me to use? They said the 1000 should flow pretty close to what I have because it's the same venturi size. Or I could go with the 950 hp main body and it should flow around 820-830... But with that and the billet metering blocks I should be able to adjust it all correctly.. Any opinions?

I think both are kinda big and maybe even your 850. What is your use again? Street I'd just get a nice 750 really. The mainbody needs to match the base(some work on a few diff sizes) and I'm not too sure about bigger than 750.

Answering your question kinda, I've read a lot of bad things bout the 950hp and carb guys don't like them.

Did you talk to BLP about your use and car details? There are a ton of carb shops and you can always get more than one opinion.

Yea everyone I've talked to says 850 is the range I need to be in and I can tell you that this engine does pull harder with the 850 vs the 750 I did have. I talked with prosystems and he recommended around 830-850 cfm for my setup.. If I read correctly the 950 flows 830 and the 1000 flows 870.. The only bad things I hear about the hp carbs is that they don't flow what they are advertised. Of course a 950 or 1000 cfm would be to big for my engine but they don't actually flow that much and are close to the same venturi as mine. The 1000 is supposed to have the same 1.56 venturi as mine and the 950 is smaller 1.38? Correct me if I am wrong

Yah don't really know enough to give a real opinion so I'll stay on the safe/low side. GL sounds like your on the track to figuring it out.

edit: LOL what I meant to say, "I really don't know enough about your car & use"

my motor is similar to yours albeit a little more radical
I have tried both the aed 750 and 850 ho the 750 oughta be plenty for you unless youre really winding it up and at the track a lot. They custom tailor it to your car motor trans etc usually spot on out of the box. Sell that one you got and move on-your present carb doesnt have the adjustable capabilites you need went through that already with a 4779..contact Chris Straub or Jeff at AED directly. Think mine was a little under/over 5 bills to my door billet metering blocks, base, spec sheet etc. Good stuff and great service after they got your $
looking back I should have stuck wiht the 750ho

Talked with blp and they have the main bodies.. Sent a spec sheet for my engine setup and they called back. Said the 950 hp would work great for me. He said I may lose a little top end from my 850 main body but it should pick it up in the low end.. They also sell the main body with bigger venturi that would match mine for a little extra but it's really not worth the difference. He said the car would slow with a 750 and I wouldn't be happy with it.

Read this. That is from a long time ago when carburetors weren't as good as today. Booster signals etc..
