Default '94 Hood Release Handle Mounting Location

Bought my corvette with a broken hood latch cable and disconnected hood release handle. I've replaced the cable. I have the hood release handle and the bracket it is connected. I can't for the life of me find the spot that the bracket mounts to under the dash. I've removed the panels and just can't feel or see a spot where the bracket (with to bolt holes) mounts to.

Has anyone done a handle replacement before?

If you look at the driver kick panel on the left you will see a rectangular opening. It goes behind there on the frame. You have to remove the kick panel to see the mounting area behind it.

Thanks for the replies. I've got the handle (7) attached to the mounting bracket (3). I've removed the panels underneath the instrument console. I just don't see any spot on the frame to mount the bracket on. I've attached a picture of where I think it should go but there's no bolts or holes for the two bolt hole bracket (3). Could I be missing something?

I believe it bolts to the bottom of the dash stand on you head and look up.

I figured it out. It connects to that rusty bracket in my picture (previous post), not the dash. It's weird because the rusty bracket isn't actually connected to the dash, I think it was actually connected to the clutch pedal apparatus or something strange like that. Can't remember exactly.

You need to buy some threaded connections (not sure what they are called). They slide over the holes in the 'rusty bracket' so you can bolt the hood release cable bracket to it.
