completely died with out warning at 80 mph
Greetings all!
My ’92 with the LT-1 has developed an issue that I am not at all sure what it could be and I am hoping that someone else has gone through the same issues.
My car is acting like it has a misfire but that is not the case after close inspection. Recently I was driving down the interstate at 80 mph and my vette completely died. Only way it would start and keep running was is with the throttle held slightly open. After restarting it did it again about a half mile down the road. Then sitting on the side of the road for about 30 min letting things cool down it started up and made it the rest of the way home about 10 miles without issue other than the misfire like symptom.
Does anyone here have firsthand knowledge with this issue? I am not sure where to start because it will start in the driveway no problem but it idles similar to what you would expect with a misfire. After pulling all spark plugs (still connected to wire with assist of another to check them) one by one there is no issue with spark. That and I would not expect just a misfire to completely kill the car while driving down the road?
Thanks in advance

One post is enough take your coil and icm in and have them tested. Do a fuel pressure test as well.

Do you know how to scan for codes? Put a paper clip in pins A and G in the OBD1 connector. Don't start the car, just put the key in the ON position. I would start there. If none, follow ant farmer's post.

When was the last time the fuel filter was changed?
This is a symptom of a clogged fuel filter. The car can run fine at lower speeds but at higher speeds is where fuel demand and flow is greatly increased and is where fuel starvation will occur. Fuel pressure will decrease and it could take a while till the fuel plenum is filled with fuel again.

That happen to me on my 85. I know it's not an LT1 but turn out to be the fuel pump. Hope this little info helps you.
