Default Oil temp gauge in cluster not working well. Digital oil temp works great.

I have a 93 coupe and the oil temp gauge in the cluster is not working properly. It does move but does not register the correct temperature. (When I say it moves, I mean not very much) The digital gauge works great. Anybody know the fox for this? All other gauges work great.

Bad sender or connection is it pressure or temp?

it is the oil temp gauge. Are there separate sensors for the cluster and the digital display?

If it moves about ⅛"+ on the analog gage (dash cluster), it is working just fine.
Yes, there is just one oil temp sensor that provides data for both the analog gage, and digital read-out.
The digital read-out will provide the more accurate reading.

I invested in a new oil temp sensor, then read the responses to "oil temp low readings".
Should have read responses first before ordering.
The new oil temp sensor provided the same ⅛"+ analog movement.

The oil temp sensor is located in the oil filter housing, and is not easily
replaced.
