I've said it once and I'll say it again just because a part is new doesn't mean crap. Glad you found a solution. I'm willing to bet my next paycheck a scope would have found the Opti-Spark issue. Doesn't matter if it was only a primary side problem or a secondary cap/rotor side problem or a combination it would have shown it and taken minutes to do.
