Flush or drain and refill
The automatic trans fluid? My trans was rebuilt almost a year ago, and I want to take care of it. Because that rebuild expensive. I only have a bit over 1,000 miles on the trans. I want to change in it May. Should I flush it, or drain, new filter and refill?

a filter and service at 1000 miles on a fresh rebuild may not be a bad idea - not sure how necessary it is though. make sure you use ONLY the GM/Delco service kit. most others, even the name brands, the filter is made in china.
I usually do a filter/service about every 36K-48K miles, and a full flush around 100K miles. my 85 is running 155K miles and the original 700R4 is not showing any signs of problems or issues.
here's a link on filters - the AC Delco part number shown is good through 1993.

Depends on the use, but I think it should be more than fine unless your hot lap drag racing it. My trans has 90k far as I know and I did complete fluid, filter, +1qrt pan & cooler when I got it. After two summers of testing n passes here there and not even a 1000miles street all I am gonna do is drain the pan and replace those few qrts because my trans is old.
Do you have an add-on cooler? Too much heat is what kills and ruins fluid/trans. You could always install a temp gauge if it's gonna bug you.

If you actually want to service it "dump, filter and fill" no flush. Required? NO

Burning Brakes
After 1 year and 1K miles you're throwing money away. No need to service for quite some time. Your fluid is fine!

Just a simple B&M stacked plate cooler the smaller one, since your in a hot weather state it should be fine year round. There are many guides of how or where to mount one online and it depends if you still have your AC as mine is removed.
A temp sensor would involve removing the pan and adding a bung of sorts to it or aftermarket pan.
You didn't say if it was for driving or racing, I don't think you'd need a fan cooled add-on cooler for driving. You can be too cold and the smaller size should work well for an added safety measure spirited driving.

Ok, thanks everyone I'm not into throwing away money, so I'll hold it off. Yes, fluid looks new still. I don't do any drag passes. So when would be a good time to change it? I looked in my owner's manual, but all it said schedule I or schedule II. I haven't looked in my FSM.
