You can use a paper clip to scan the codes. You have to tie the 5th pin over from the left on the top row to the 4th pin over frmo the left on the bottom row of the ALDL (or it may be the 4th and 3rd).

Turn the key to the Run position and do not start the car.

Watch the Speedo area. It will show the stored codes for the different systems. 1.0, 4.0, 9.0, and A.0. If there are no codes, it will flash a 12.

Once the codes have cycled through on the display, you can use the buttons where the guages, eng metric and so forth are at to scroll through and delete them if you wish.

To scroll through the codes, use the fuel reset, and trip reset to scroll through the systems (1.0, 4.0, 9.0, and A.0).

For each system there will be a X.1 (i.e 4.1) and an X.7. You can scroll through the subsystems by pressing the buttons just above the reset buttons. Should be gauges and the one to the right of it. Once you are at the X.1 system, you can scroll through the codes using the ENG MET button (top right). To reset the buttons scroll to the X.7 system and press and hold the ENG MET button until --- appears in the speedo display.

I do not remember off the top of my head what each system is (1, 4, 9, A), but they should be CCM (1?), ECM (4?), ABS/ASR (9 or A) but I think A is the Air bag system.

Hi,
I have a laptop diagnostic interface cable I'm trying to sell that I used on my 94. I used it 3 times, it's a quality AKM cable with a 15 ft extension, let me know if you want to buy it. I'll throw in a CD with some freebie and trial software that I used. I sold the car and no longer need it.
