Default Great News!

So I have been up and down this forum reading article after article about changing/rebuilding the motor in the 84 and I called and called to find acceptable motor replacements. So I called this place near me that builds motors and the guy says well did you try changing the PCV valve? and I said huh? what in the world does that have to do with anything. Soes I changed the PCV valve and basically no more smoking at idle. Still smokes when I start it ( Valve seals) which are getting fixed next week or so. But virtually no smoke at idle anymore. there is a almost not noticeable smoke now but i'm told that will burn off because it's in the exhaust now. but either way it's no longer embarrassing and I will leave it for another year or 2. Hopefully longer.

Oh, fantastic.. That means crankcase pressure was forcing oil past your rings and valve guides.

I bet it smoked like a coal fire!

PCV = < 5 bucks!
