I can move both fuel lines about 1/4" away from the one of the tubes on the header. If I also wrap the lines, do you think that will suffice? From the picture it is tought to tell that there is a 1/4" distance between the two.
Absolutly, wrap them with the heat wrap. I did mine due to the clearance problems with shortys. If it didn't help, that's ok as it made me feel warm and fuzzy.
I had the same question. I installed tpis headers a year or so ago and just managed to pry the fuel lines out about 1/4 inch from the pass side header pipe. I have been running it ever since and had no problems. I have yet to wrap them (and should). The car ran very very hot a few times and I didn't notice any performance problems...I would still advise to wrap them, I will now that I have been reminded.
:seeya
chucks88 you might want to try this stuff from DEI called cool tube. It wraps easy around the lines and gives you a nice clean look. You can get it from Summit. Kind of expensive but it works well.
Thanks all. I called TPIS yesterday. They said just make sure the two are not touching. I am planning to move them as far away as possible and wrap them. I'll post some pics when I do.
BTW, I'm filing away that pic. If I do the TPIS headers, I'll reroute those fuel lines after I pull the stock headers. Looks like it's tough to get leverage on that far line with the header installed.
BTW, maybe a formed Al heat shield between the header tube and the lines would be better than a wrap, as wraps tend to hold moisture leading to corrosion.
