Check the fuel injectors. Which are they?

Default 90 doing the same.

My 90 'vert will run (idle) just fine and rev up no problem in the driveway. On the road, under load, drives fine until you punch it, then it dies. It will restart, but does it again with acceleration. No codes showing.

Have you checked spark and fuel pressure under load?

My friend's 89 was really difficult to start. Had to use starting fluid. We replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator and then finally the icm. It was the icm. Then it started being difficult to start once in a while. The last time ended up being a poor connection on the fuel pump relay. It is on the firewall by the brake booster. Seems moisture got to one of the pins and caused oxidation. Now it starts all the time and runs great.

The plugs are new. Fuel pressure is 40 PSI on start-up but I will have to check it under load after rigging something up.
It does feel like they old days when your carb accelerator pump wasn't working. I will have to check both, but not sure how to check spark under load.

Check fuel under load. Plug a known good plug and fire it up under cold conditions. Later on, do it under hot conditions. Do you get a blie flame? Spray a fine mist of water AROUND the plug wires in the dark. Do you get any arcing?

I am trying to find an angled Schrader valve and possibly an extension for checking under load. Any ideas?

Why? All you need is a fuel pressure gauge with a hose, tape it to the glass

On the '90 L98 the Schrader Valve is under the MAP sensor and requires un-mounting the MAP sensor to easily access the valve.

Take the sensor out, connect with a hose and secure for just a WOT run maybe?

That's likely what I'll do for now. I'd like the 90 degree for future hook ups.

I live in canada which basically means I can't get sh*t.....and if it is available,I'll pay 4x for it. The joys of being a frost-back.

What would happen if I sent it to you? Just curious how to avoid that.

I had something like that happening to my 84. I fount that the wire had broken off the radio suppression capacitor. Every now and then the wire would short on the engine and snuff the car out. Could be something simple like that.

My thoughts as well. If your car runs great sometimes, but acts up...its most likely a bad connection. If something is bad it wont run right at all.

While I very much appreciate the offer, I don't want to be a bother (Canadian politeness syndrome). I am going to try your suggestion with the tester taped to the windshield and the MAP connected, but moved.

It is consistent, in that it happens when I try hard acceleration. Call it a gut feeling, but it feels like a fuel issue. I was a tech for a number of years but got out of the trade about the time everything went to injection. It's a head-scratcher for sure. I will know better after I take it out for a run with the pressure gauge attached.
