Crate Motors for the 1985 L98

I already thought of that and there's no way that I am paying more than what my C4 is worth to get a new motor done. My wife is begging me not to sell the car but if I find a nice LT1 powered C4 for under $8k, its a done deal and I've already found 3 of them.
I'm no stranger to engine builds and installs. I lost my garage and space thanks to a nasty divorce so in order to do this rebuild in the near future, I may have to farm it out. However, my father-in-law, who's also a car guy, he has classic Fords, has offered his assistance and the use of his garage, tools and lift so it looks like we might be doing the ATK short block someone recommended with my 91 heads. If I play my cards right, the whole build should be around $2k with me and my father-in-law doing the labor.

How about a half and half. Yank the motor and send it out for rebuilding and reinstall?

No, I've remarried...my new wife loves the car and doesn't want me to sell it. My ex-wife wanted me to buy my cars back from her initially (I had an 85 Trans Am along with the C4), but I refused and gave her the T/A to shut her up.

So... Late reply here.
However if you have the l98 engine look closely at coolant ports for intake. Also if this is in fact in a corvette, ecm cannot be used with any other setup. This is not a big hurdle but a cost that many dont think about when budgeting. Also look into some trans work as the factory setup is weak. 700r4 is minimal mods and cost. Also easy add on for ecm mod.

You can buy a GM base crate engine for under 2k.Wont be a powerhouse but new with warranty
Or get a blueprint 400, upgrade your intake and exh system
