Default 1991 L98 stock exhaust system question

The system on my new, to me, 91 seems different than my 90. Are there supposed to be any pre-cats prior to the Y, or is that a cat? Got this car at the end of Summer and didn't thoroughly check it out before putting it in it's winter home. My 92 LTI is totally different at thr front. My 90 has pre cats prior to Y. The 91 seems a little louder than what I'm used to. Info on the 91 seems very sparce, even checking out Walkers website.

Your 90 and 91 should have pre cats in the front y, necking down to a single main cat. They should pretty much look the same to that point. The rear y and mufflers are a little different between the 90 and 91, but they are interchangeable (rear y pipe + mufflers). Iirc the 91 mufflers are a little bigger and the y pipe angles a little steeper. Post a pic and we can say for sure.

Thanks for the reply. It looks like my pre-cats were removed by the PO. Center cat still there with some upgraded mufflers at the rear. System looks good, the exhaust sound takes me back to my teens. My wife thinks a noisy, yellow car attracts too much attention. AP Exhaust has a pretty good diagram of what should be there.

Car is in Winter hibernation.

My 91 has no pre cats only the main centre big one. Don't know the cars full history but it all looks original.
