Finally got my car to idle (see other posts if you like), but now it will idle but when I give it gas it dies. Checked the tps and it tested fine. Tested the sending wire and it is getting no signal from the computer. Tested the wire back to the firewall and it is good. My mechanic is going to test it to the computer this afternoon. If it tests good to there I am assuming it is the computer? Does this sound right to you guys? It was working fine before I started working on the intake. Any fuses or relays I could have blown? I am about to go insane with flustration :mad .
I think he said he checked to see if it was getting power and it was, but there was no signal change in the input wire from idle to wide open throttle.
He is a competant mech and I'm sure he will figure it out, I'm just trying to save him some time which will also save me some money.
If there is no signal change in the input wire at the TPS I would first suspect the connector and secondly the TPS wiper.
With electrical equipment the first thing to check is the connectors, especially since you had this one opened up. A little TV tuner cleaner on the contacts may do the trick.
Since the ECM worked before the intake R&R and you didn't zap the ECM it should still be fine.
If he unplugged the connector, the only voltage he could get would be the 5 Volts from the ECU/PCU (likely the gray wire). If he backprobed the connectors while hooked up, he should get O volts (blk wire) and around .5 to .7 volts, depending on year, on the remaining wire. Then if he did a sweep check, he would backprobe the dark blue wire, advance the throttle, and look for a steady increase in voltage. Hooking up a scanner and going to the TPS readout should yield what the computer is actually seeing. This could be compared to what is showing up on the volt meter. The TPS is definitely suspect if you get an off idle problem. Darn cars.
