1996 C4 engine shut down when turning steering wheel
1996 C4, 90,000 miles that suddenly shuts down, engine when turning the steering wheel going around curves. Had noticed "clicking noise" coming from steering column when turning wheel when going around slight curves, etc. Then it went away for a while until this happened.
Any ideas?

Maybe a wiring harness came loose and rubs against the steering shaft somplace and wore through a couple wires. Start under the dash and look for something like that but it could also be in the engine compartment near the intermediate shaft too

Can you test your theory but running your car in the garage and turning the wheel "lock to lock" to see if the engine quits (grounds out)? If it shuts off you have a steering column harness issue. As mentioned above by Bwbob, you could have worn through a couple of wires.
If the can only dies at speed and corning, you might have a harness issue under the hood where the flexing causes something to come loose or pinch.
Your first thing it to re create the problem with consistently, after that we can figure it out.

Get super detailed about the issue also.
Like almost try and out smart the problem, detail things like when it does it, things you can do where it does not happen.
Think: cover all angles and sinerios
