Default Turbo 5.3 swap build

Hi, I thought i post some updates on my car from this winter project.

The car made 808rwhp and 900rw/ft lb with a single borg warner s475. This was with a gen.1 355ci.

I sold out the parts and bought a used 5.3 from a Tahoe. Went with the .010 over Wiseco pistons and compstar rods. ARP bolted, stock porte heads and mls gaskets. I built the intake myself and all the adaptors. I also replaced the Autronic sm4 ecu with a Holley EFI.

This time im going twin turbo bw s366. Hoping to pass 1000rwhp.

Beginning of the intake runners. These are pressed with a cnc milled tool i made to line up with the cathedral ports
Pressed intake runners
Parts for the intake
Special made longer bolts for the flywheel/adapter

Lol thanks, but im all about budget. Thats why i make everything myself, the cnc mill and cnc lathe was one of the best investments i have made. The intake was a total of $120 in material cost, but it took some time to finish.

The car is a -85 4+3 from the beginning, i bought it back in 2002 and then did all kind of weird stuff to it
- supercharged, twin turbo,

rear mount turbo, single turbo and now back to twin turbo again LOL.

Yes it was bigger than i expected in the beginning
Luckily i have another Vette ( -92 lt1 ) with a 383 N/A that i drive when this still is in the garage lol. But this time i think i will have it ready for the season.

I need to get it approved by the Swedish vehicle inspection then back in the garage and mount the turbos. Then i can take it to the dyno.

Hey Svante,

You always do amazing work. Some here may not remember your talent. For those that don't-He adapted a Lenco to the C-Beam with D44.

Thanks Steve all these modifications is one of the main reasons that this is so fun.

The Lenco is still there. Together with the D44, i really hope the Dana will hold up this season! Had some problems with it sweating oil during WOT pulls with the last motor

If it´s possible to beef it up, please let me know

The block is stamped 4.8? Or is that normal with all 5.3's and they just use a different crank?

Not sure of the differences i thought the 4.8 just had a shorter stroke

Edit: Very impressive by the way, holy S

It says 4.8 5.3 but the last number doesn't show on the picture they use the same block.

Thanks

Check out threads by RKLESSDRIVER (Will) as he was able to go very quick (8's et in 1/4 mile) with the D44. Or you can do want he and I went to-Ford 9" solid axle.

Thanks Steve 👍🏻
A solid axle conversion is an idea. But i have to re-register the car as a rebuilt vehicle in order to use it on the streets. But its doable!

Are you happy with the 9"? Does it work ok as an allround car or do you mostly use it on the track?

For the ECU? Yes i tore the oem out and installed the LS harness that i bought together with the Holley EFI. That saved a lot of time comparing to the wiring i had to do with the Autronic Sm4.

I have some Autometer gauges left then im finished.
