Default Things happen in threes.....

THIS IS A REPOST FROM GENERAL DISCUSSION SECTION....the reason: 190 views and one reply and this is some serious **** happening, not the typical "what weight rear fluid should I use"

Yes, it is true and not just the death of celebrities...

I was reading a thread from a long time member WW7 (?) and he blew a head gasket on his built 383, then a newer member asked why he had white smoke coming from the exhaust? With my limited mechanical knowledge I told him it was probably a blown head gasket and that the white smoke is coolant burning.....

Fast forward to this past weekend....blown head gasket and just when the weather was getting nice...

So we renovated our kitchen and while the dumpster was there I gutted a bathroom (affectionately known as the Lloyd Elliott bathroom as I planned on doing the LE2 package).

So I told my wife that I WANTED to do the heads & cam....now we NEED to do the heads & cam....

So with a somewhat limited budget, what are some of the things to cut out/postpone?

I originally wanted to port the intake ($200) plus adding a Throttle body = $500+......Also can I stick with my stock injectors or do I need larger ones because of the head work/cam?

Because I wasn't able to do the LE2 package this winter I was thinking of building around it with the plan on doing it next winter. Those mods included LT headers and a torque converter......

I think the headers will have to wait, but because of a couple tranny leaks (seals) and it ranked as a top 3 mod, I'm going to get a vigilante TQ (LLoyd recommends a 3200 stall.....(I guess thats OK, never had a automatic performance car)

Thoughts? Advice? It's 70+ degrees today in NJ

..... Use the porting and Throttle Body money to buy a FIRST intake (it comes with a large monoblade throttle body) .....

TPI car?

3200 Circle D converter is what I run with an LE2 setup. Works great, but I would certainly budget for an external cooler to plumb in line after the factory unit. And, of course make sure the converter you order has the lockup function.

A ported intake and 52mm TB would be the hot ticket in my opinion. Yes, you will need injectors and a tune. I would look into Racetronix for a fuel pump setup as well.
