Default 1988 warning lights on

My 1988 C4 has the open hatch, brake, and low coolant lights are all on always.
I was told that a wire running underneath the driver's side carpet needs repaired. I found a wire but it has a piece of copper stuck in the female end. I looked for a place where it could be attached but no obvious clue. It is the only wire. I put new insulation and carpet in as well as a new leather seat on Sunday.

It sounds like your ground G201 is not connected. It's located on the door hinge pillar at the bottom. You need to remove the frame rail cover and peel back the carpet to see it.

The wire you found under the seat is the e-brake connector and the contact of the switch.

This thread has very good snapshots you can inspect. In many cases I believe it can be reassembled.

***I believe that the LOW COOLANT and HATCH require separate diagnostics. It certainly wouldn't hurt to confirm the G201 but I don't believe it's going to be a "fix all"!!
