And I doubt the filter I took out is the OE. Since trans was rebuilt two years ago. But I did buy the correct one

When I check the fluid on level ground, if it reads ok in cold, I assume it's safe to drive it. Then check the hot level?

Filter seal is part metal,part rubber, did you get the metal part out? It is a seal not just an o-ring. Auto Zone loan-a-tool for inch pound torque wrench.

Changing trans fluid at 4000 miles is waste of time-money, manual intervals are severe service 15,000 miles, normal service 100,000 miles. Just draining pan only gets out 1/2 of fluid or less. Just suck out fluid thru dipstick, About 3 qts. at a time 2 or 3 times run car between doing and then drop pan and service for a more complete fluid change.Torque pan bolts to 97 in/lbs three times is suggested

Thanks. But the fluid is two years old. Don't care as I already changed it. I'll just drive it with piece of mind. Thanks again for the info though.
