Well, depending on the year you may have a problem or not as some pop out with a screw driver.

What year are we working on?

Your 85 should be the same as my 88.

The lens pivots.

Thank You, great post. I was able to unscrew the 2 Philips that hold the light in . The problem wasn't the bulb. The ground wire that connects to the light switch was not connected. I didn't want to disconnect the door lock in fear of breaking something. With a little persuasion, I was able to get the black center piece loose after moving the section near the armrest first.

I did the same thing, the LED bulbs also fit under the hood in the two lights there, take less power, provide more light. Quick, cheap and easy fix. When taking the glass covers off the engine compartment lights, make sure they don't drop... they make a big mess when they splat on the floor!

Since I did a total restro of my 88 interior, I now have LED interior lights every where. The most expensive exterior LED's were the fogs and back-ups.
