Default air pump delete with part numbers and pictures

I used a modified A/C delete pulley to delete the air/smog pump. Doorman 34152 machined to about 2.55 width, if you mill down the boss on the pulley side to flush. This uses the original pump brackets. You'll need a bushing or sleeve because one of the bosses on the delete pulley is 1/2" inside. There is some cheesy hardware going on, but it seems to work. I then used Gates 6PK2321 belt, I think its used on Trailblazer from the 2000s and is about 1 inch shorter. About $80 bucks from my local store total.

When I got the TPIS unit, I don't think I had to change the belt length. Why did you have to? Just curious.

Two things - the delete pulley bracket is smaller from hole to hole so it tucks in a little closer. Also the pulley is an inch or two smaller diameter than the original pump pulley. There is no adjustment with these parts, so you get what your idler can pull tight. My belt was looking pretty shabby, so I wasn't sad to replace it.

I suppose as long as you don't have to change the direction of things and the length of the belt is all, life is good.

That is a good looking set up. I just bought a 89 and wanted to save money. I just gutted the inside of the pump and lubed it good. The engine bay looks a little more tidy now. I am a big fan of removing this ancient smog stuff.
