Default Replacing coolant temperature sensor...

This is for an '86...

Replacing my coolant temperature sensor. Does anyone know about how much coolant to expect will come out? Any ideas on how to catch it?

Also, any tips for the job offhand...like what else needs to come off/out to access it, and what tools (sockets, extensions, etc.) I'll need?

Noticed the replacement has red-thread locker on it...is the old one hard to get out? My air temperature sensor under the plenum had the same sensor, with the red thread locker, and it was tough. Old one got quite distorted.

How long of a job is it...realistically? (Don't worry...No one's listening )

Thanks!

5 minute job, just take old the out and have the new one ready in hand ready to put in. Just a little bit of anti freeze wil come out, put rag on floor to catch.
Just did mine on my 89 as explained no problems.

Any idea how much coolant would come out if I don't put the new one in immediately? Since you did it recently...Did you have to take anything else off to access it? (water neck, smog pump switching valve, bypass hose, etc.) Thank you.

Why not do a coolant flush while you are at it? Unless you just changed coolant in the last year or two.

It's not red loctite, it is thread sealer that allows the sensor to be grounded. The same as on knock sensors.
