Default Magnaflow #16837

I am wondering if people are satisfied with the Magnaflow exhaust system. Does it drone badly, how is the durability etc.?
I damaged my OEM mufflers and have to replace them, I have an LT4 with ARH 1 3/4" headers, cats, X-pipe.
I would not be using the Magnaflow resonator just the 3" pipes and mufflers.
Owners of the system please give me some feedback.
Thanks!

my 2-cents, FWIW -- I've done my fair share of exhaust work on C4's - five exhaust systems to date. I've used magnaflow exhaust products on three separate occasions and had fitment issues on all three. twice, I gave up, and replaced the components with either walker ( stock OE components), flowmaster, or corsa. i'll give everybody a second chance, but here's a case where it's three strikes and you're out! no more magnaflow for me - i'm a little gun shy at this point. they do make nice looking hardware, but IMO, the good does not outweigh the (fitment) bad, and customer service, IMO, non-existent.

if you want an exceptional system, one word - corsa. perfect in every way. installed their system on my 96 LT1 car (plus two 90/L98 cars, a C5, and a C6) - form, fit, and finish, top shelf, and no drone - a bit pricey, but here's a case where you really get what you pay for.

I've had the Magnaflow 16837 sysytem. The muffler hangers do crack. I had them rewelded/reinforced and no issues after that but still didn't care for how they hung down below the body at a straight angle.

In 2015 I finally got a Corsa system on the car. MUCH BETTER. From every aspect- Fit, Finish, and Looks. Angles up with the body just like the stock system.

Why not try to find another set of stock mufflers? The factory LT1 system sounds great with Long Tubes, possibly the best combo for our cars. I love my Corsa but sometimes I consider going longtubes and stock cat back for that tame, but aggressive WOT sound.

I was trying to install a full 3" exhaust including mufflers, right now it is 3" all the way back up until my stock axle pipes and mufflers (2 3/4").
I was also looking at the B&B exhaust full 3": http://www.bbexhaust.com/shop/chevy-...-back-exhaust/ or these which look like the best of both worlds loud when you want it and quiet when you don't: http://www.bbexhaust.com/shop/chevy-...-back-exhaust/.
I also saw these: http://www.zip-corvette.com/92-96-oe...lers-pair.html they claim they are stock type sounding mufflers. I have to call them to make sure it will fit the stock 2 3/4" OEM pipes as I will have to cut of my damaged mufflers and reuse the 2 3/4" pipes but this still leaves me with the 2 3/4" diameter exhaust out back.

I've got the exact setup your looking at doing. ARH headers/xpipe, 3" ARH adapter pipes going into the Magnaflow system near the rear diff.

It sounds great, but I wont lie it drones pretty bad under 2k, anything above that it good. I'm in the process of trying to source a factory mufflers....

Here's a clip from the track:

Thank you for the video, sounds great for the track but for the street that might be a bit too loud for me.
Looks like Magnaflow is out for me.

Actually the factory mufflers have 2-1/4" inlets and outlets.

The actual pipes on the LT4 are 2 3/4" from the factory.
Are you saying the muffler inlet goes from 2 3/4" to 2 1/4"?

My LT4 came with the worst exhaust system possible, well maybe straight pipes could be worse, but I digress. cat back system, I'm in California, no crossover, no resonator and two "shorty" flowmaster mufflers...words fail me in trying to describe just how awful it was.

Installed a Corsa cat back system; a bit pricey, but it is SO much better...no drone at all, even with an LT4 "Hot Cam" and if the ad is to believed a 47% greater flow than a stock system. The materials, all stainless, fit, everything was right on. Nothing but positive things to say about it.

I would go with the Corsa but I would be going from a 3" pipe down to a 2.5" pipe (I am currently 3" going to 2 3/4", don't really want to go any smaller).
--So now I am seriously considering this B&B exhaust:
http://www.lmperformance.com/792468/...-system-3.html
It looks like I can have it loud when I want with a press of the keyfob, or quiet when cruising.
It looks like a very nice system what do you guys think?
The tips also come in black for extra coin.

The B&B is really nice. With regards to stock or Corsa I highly doubt you are going to lose any power on a stock or mildly modified LT4. If you need to have 3" piping for a mental thing then yes B&B is your choice for plug and play.

Yes, it looks great having the best of both worlds in sound control. I am going to do a bit more research on this before I pull the trigger but I think B&B Fusion is where I am leaning.

By the way thank you all for helping out. If I do pull the trigger I will make a sound clip and post it

Subscribing, if you do go with the B&B Fusion I'd love to hear a clip and also know if the quiet mode actually does kill any drone.

I had every exhaust I could find on my built 383 LT4 and they all sucked for being too loud and droning. The only one that quieted it down at cruising was the Corsa 2.5 catback.Still screamed like a Banshee on WOT but you could actually talk or listen to the radio while cruising. It was expensive but I would have been way better off buying it first than buying, trying, and selling magnaflow,B&B,SLP,and a custom setup with dynomax.
If I ever have another C4 I will do it once with Corsa.

I like the deep sound of the magnaflow system. I had the Corsa system with headers and no cats and It was loud! It didn't drone on the highway though.
The MF is deep and not too bad on the highway, but I run a 700R4 and 3:73 gears so I turn much higher rpms than you will with the ZF.

I just put OBX headers, no cats and a EBay cat back Maximizer system on the ZR-1, Fought with it putting it on but I think it sounds nice the little I drove it so far.

I am going with the B&B Fusion system, I will not take delivery until after the 22nd. So when I install it I will shoot some pix and get sound clips.
I spoke to Mike Boat and he was very helpful and steered me to the Fusion exhaust system because I was concerned with drown. He told me it is a marriage keeper in case the wife does not like the loud sound of the exhaust (leave it in the quiet mode). When she isn't riding shotgun hit the keyfob and the second straight through pipe opens.

I agree
I installed the axle back magnaflow (15623) on my 94 and am very happy with the quality of the mufflers, the ease of installation, the look, and the sound they produce.
