I have now owned 2 c4's an 84 and an 86 and neither one of them will power my phone charger. why is this and what is the solution? It seems as if it does not fit well into the outlet. I also have tried different adapters all with the same problem. Ideas, Suggestions?

If you've no need for the cigar lighter buy a receptacle, the retainer and a correct electrical connector and change it over to a later POWER RECEPTACLE. There should be GM correct hardware to accomplish that. You just need an understanding parts guy. I'd think most have done similar for others.
