Just those 2 items on the LCD? What about everything else? Does the analog gauges work fine? Have you done an troubleshooting at all?

Check Batee.com. Bryan has a lot of troubleshooting info from what I remember on his website plus he does instrument cluster repairs.

Does smacking the dash above the display cause the display to return? Seriously does it?
This is quite common on these dashes and usually is a faulty cable from the LCD to the Circuit board.
Bryan at Batee.com can provide a replacement cable if you are skilled at board level soldering. If not you can send tehm the cluster and they will fix it
