Default leaky transmission on '84

The transmission on my '84 is leaking badly. I'm assuming the seals are shot. Does anyone know of a reliable shop in central NJ area that can replace seals on the 700 series transmissions?

Before you decide that the seals are bad you need to determine where the trans fluid is leaking from. You might just have loose bolts on the pan gasket.

In many cases the front pump seal leaks. If that happens, you get ATF coming out of the hole in the bottom of the pump cover.

I'd checked the pan gasket for leaks. The leak is coming from the front so the pump seal is a possibility. I'll have look.

Unfortunately, you have to remove the trans to get to the seal. You don't have to take the trans out of the car, just move it back away from the engine far enough to give yourself room to work.
