I have reached the final step in the restoration of my 94 C-4, the dreaded exhaust system.
I would like some advise as to what to install. I have read numerous articles and all they do is confuse the situation..
I currently have a full stock system. I would like a nice tone to it, but not as quiet as the stock. I also do not want to be fitted for hearing aids. The one thing I believe I took from all the articles i read is to leave the resonator, or install an X pipe to alleviate a drone situation. I was also thinking of just putting in muffler delete pipes, would this be to loud if I leave the cats and resonator in. I would appreciate any advise from those that have had the same situation.
Thanks
Woody
My advise would be to surf YouTube. Everybody is going to have differing opinions on what you SHOULD get. Here is just some food for thought with a video of my car. Its stock manifolds, stock cats, to x pipe to straight pipe out the back, no mufflers. PROBABLY too loud for most Corvette owners. I live at 5000ft though, so the cars are slightly quieter here, with less tendency to drone. Plus I wanted it to sound like I was driving a race car LOL
Based on what you want, sounds like Corsa is the only choice for you, but eliminating the mufflers is a cheap option that you could try and see if you like it.

After nashing my teeth on the corsa and the expense(more sound than performance as the LT1 flows well) I found a corsa resonator delete pipe. My friend installed it and it was raspy/popping. He knew I wouldn't like it so he added an x-pipe. Fast forward to today...I blew the head gasket, so there are motor mods going on.
I'd heard in my research that the stock exhaust with headers sound great. So here is the story, Corsa + labor = $1500+ OR coated headers($700-$800) + labor(more $$ I assume) will be less or about the same. That being said, the big difference will be the HP gain with the headers (20-40 HP, depending on current mods..ie:heads & cam, etc...)
You could try the muffler delete first and see if you like it.Or try a magnaflow axle back if you don't like the straight pipe.
I love Corsa exhaust! That being said I have driven a stock vette with a Corsa exhaust and it was down right quiet unless you were on the gas hard.Granted comparing a stock vette to my old modded 383 LT4 with Corsa exhaust is like comparing Rosie O donnell to Taylor Swift.
Changing C4 exhaust gets expensive quick so make sure you can re install anything you take off.
Wattior4Jesus question, can I assume you have Cats and a Resonator with the muffler delete. how would you rate the tone at idle and at cruising speed (on a volume scale of 1-10)
Thanks
Unsure if there is a significant difference between the l98 and lt1 stock exhaust note, but, my 91 is completely stock except for the mufflers, which are 50 series Flowmasters. They were on the car when I purchased it. I think they are about the quietest option for aftermarket. They have a healthy tone, louder than stock, and don't drone.
on ln ltx if you leave it all stock & remove the resonator and leave the rest youll get what youre looking for. Slightly louder than stock but not enough to bother you.
