Default Fixing loose drivers side power mirror 1984

Hi all

I found posts on here on removing the mirror, and they made it look very easy. But I tried it, and the mirror won’t come out because there seems to be a rubber cover over each of the two pins that move the mirror. Do I have to rip those off with the mirror?

I've seen recommendations on removing the mirror by pulling the mirror out of the pivot trunion. This is very risky, because this causes the trunion bearing areas to be distorted, and possibly damaged, and the trunion itself is quite delicate. If the trunion bearing areas are damaged, you'll end up with a wiggly mirror!

I found it much better to move the mirror to its extreme up-down or right-left position to gain access to the bracket mounting screws. The mirror can be manually pushed to the ends of its travel, and the ratchet mechanism won't be damaged.
