A: How do you get the belt off an LT5? I have the tensioner fully pulled back, and the belt won't come off over the lip on any of the pullies. It's really "on-size"

B: The GM belt 10067477 is discontinued. I found generic replacements that reference that GM number. If the length is so critical that it won't even come off easily, will a generic replacement fit properly?

This is the car I'm prepping for NCRS Performance Verification. It's been one thing after another. This morning I fired it up and the belt squealed like a stuck pig. FAIL! It may be the original (hard?) belt. This car doesn't have many total miles on it.

As always, Thanks in advance.
Gatorback 4060805 is the generally accepted replacement. It's been a very long time since I did the belt and I don't recall if the last pulley I did was the alternator or the water pump. I believe it's mentioned to do either last depending upon whose actually doing it. I believe belt behind the water pump and wound/routed over all other pulleys then pulled towards you over the water pump.

I did have the OE belt when I did mine. Off I don't recall - I don't recall mine being that large a PITA but it's mentioned to be nearly every time the question is asked.

I didn't try pushing it BACK. I'll take another look.
I came up with K060802 in Gates, and 5060800 in Dayco. I'll get the 4060805 Gatorback based on your recommendation. I'll report back.
Search the 4060805 through the forum and it should surface.

This is a newer serpentine reference that I stumbled upon since you've posted. It's certainly a few years newer/fresher than my install and I don't know if it's of value or not. This guy likes "shinie" pulleys and that nonsense so I've no idea

I did my alternator on my 91 ZR1 a couple of months ago. I had "difficulty" with the belt but was able to finally get it.

I put a long ratchet on the tensionor and pulled it back and propped it with pressure on it. I then went around to each pulley I could put a finger on and "ooched" it about 1/16-1/8 at a time, alternating from one to another. Once I got it about 1/2 way off it slid off with no issue.

Putting it on was less hassle but still required the "ooch."
