Free mod with a big difference

Probably not worth cutting up the car and driving with a mesh screen on the front.
I had a ram air box on my car for a couple years. I will say that in cold weather I think it made the car feel different. I never measured, but the car could at least turn the tires and some of that may have been the cold roads too. Either way I think any bit of cooler air in the engine is a help. The question is how little or big are you willing to go to let the engine breathe.

I can't see how this mod is going to add enough ponies to have a dramatic effect on 0-60 or 1/4 mile times. Not a mod that hurts, probably helps in a minor way, but not enough for me to cut my front end up...plus my state requires a front license plate anyways.

I have the breathless performance cold air package. I also have the A/O forced air intake system. Neither is installed yet, and it looks easy to plumb the two of them together to make a sealed system from the front bumper to the air box to the TB. And I also have a hood with the scoop installed like the one copo did on here useing his idea to make mine. As with all things all of this is for sale for the right offer. I may one day install it or maybe never... it is just to hard being retired.....

I have the AO "Forced Air" intake and the car seems like it picked up a tad on acceleration but hey CaliC4, congrats on getting handy with your C4. I don't have a beef with your numbers/gains.

I'm sure I am beating a dead horse here. I did the air box cut out some time last month. Today I decided to make finish the free mod with ram air set up. I cut the front plate area out and placed a metal mesh with a license plate frame to cover it. This was all easy and cheap. Mainly used a dremel and cost $10 for mesh from Home Depot.
I just came back from a test ride. I actually feel a difference. I have been using a free gps track app. Prior to the mod my 0-60 was around 6.5 -6.7 and today I ran a 0-60 in 6.1 consistently. It also felt like a had a faster pick up from 60-75 mph.
The air is a lot cooler right now with fall season kicking in. Is it the weather? The difference in performance from last month to now is very tangible.

Update
Adding to my free power adders I decided to advance my timing. I am now advanced to about 10 and I got an impressive result with a 5 second flat 0-60. Next feee power adder will be porting the plenum.

I like that Bill, i'll have to look into that. Also possibly the "plate mod" as here in GA we aren't required to have a front license plate. Good stuff guys. I already did the heater hose mod with the throttle body, that felt stronger too. (Remembering a old late 80s Z28 i had back in the day, why heat your intake air to 220F - and i live near Atlanta, mine will never ice over) lol
Thanks
Don
Thanks
Don
Remember inlet/intake icing can also occur above freezing...
Good luck... GUSTO
