Did you ever look at your fuel pressure issue?

Have you checked the throttle position sensor?

Yes, you need to check the TPS. Should be .525 volts.

Also, have you checked your timing, distributor and if the system is advancing? If your distributor is not advancing you could have a great idle and no to slow power advancing.

Could be a plugged catalytic converter.

This is also what I would check, catalytic converter. I've had it happen to a car I had.

A good reason that you may not be accelerating is more than likely due to the code 42. This error deals with timing and the EST circuit.

If you have a GM Service Manual look at pages 6E-44/45. It is a rather good troubleshooting section for this issue. If the code 42 is legit, you have an open/short in EST circuit or ignition module or ECM that is bad.

If you don't have a service manual, get one. It's worth its weight in gold to fixing your 84. They have them on flea bay. Good luck.

This is not to say that the mentioned things above are not valid points and should be checked.

OK, so are you saying you are just "shotgunning" parts vs. a logical troubleshooting approach? Did you check to make sure that the circuits are not open or shorted? If they are, changing those parts will do nothing to fix the issue.
