That second engine was a real turd. They got it better in the end, but....

Most engines with a correct tune will take more than most people would expect.Usually an engine is damaged by going lean or too much timing advance. There is an article online by Hot Rod Magszine I think where they boosted a stock 5.3 ls bottem end to 1200hp before it had a problem.I am quilty of destroying parts on a lean-out condition.People get on a hurry to try out the new toy .

Engine failure can be contributed to lots of factors. and one of those is the person with there foot on the peddle.

Thank you for sharing.
IMHO this was more of a marketing video for pro-charger to show how safe their blower is even on the most fragile motors. Note they also discussed and showed a nitrous motor they blew up, but never did blow up this motor.
There was also no mention of compression ratio; timing curve, any meth/water injection/ intercooling) im ssuming they didnt have).
The motor was also carb'd where most modern day builds are fuel injected
There are a lot of unknowns, but i did learn about piston ring ends gap and what effect that had

over 600hp from a 305 before the blew it up
