Ideally I'd think you'd like a sleeve of sorts through the control arm. Configuration of yours above the control arm might be interesting.

I'd think the OP is or should be considering only a coil-over arrangement but this is interesting.

Works great and has held up to track abuse well. I like the fact that height and corner balance are now more adjustable also.

Totally. Should have come from the factory designed this way, IMO. Thanks again for sharing!

Maybe. I'll keep and eye on it and see if the bolt touches the arm or spring, but so far, it's working great.

I lowered my Z51 about 3/4" and found, for street driving, I'd want no lower for the usual obstacle, like driveway entrances, speed bumps, et. al. One evening, when forced to back over a 1" (or so) metal raised device, it pulled the slide-clamped exhaust Y-pipe apart from the mid pipes.

With 315/35x17s in the rear and stiff suspension, the inner wheel wells were hammered by the tires. I'd learned long ago to slow way down for road dips.

Low is cool, to a point, but can make the daily driving less than fun.

Cool project!

I think your warnings are definitely valid for the typical C4. For the OP's project, though, it may not really apply in the same way. It shouldn't have nearly the overhang of a C4, and clearance between the axles could be very different as well. OTOH, a C2 project very likely has side pipes, so that part of your warning may very well apply to his project.

BTW, if nobody has written this already, I hope we get some good pictures of the finished project, along with more in-progress pics as well.
