1993 Tach (filter?) issue
When I first put my car on the road, the tach worked. Then over the course of a couple of years it became intermitant. I did some research and decided that I didn't want to deal with it at the time.
Fast forward to last month. I replaced the ECT sensor and was poking around under the hood, identifying parts, looking for damage and that kind of thing. Much to my surprise, the next time I had the car out for a drive, the tach was working.
Then it stopped again.
And I see that I really want my Tach back.
I gather that I can either replace the filter, or bypass it by cutting and splicing the two ground wires together. (I think... Need to look it up again before I actually do anything) What I don't see anywhere is whether or not there's an upside to either option. If there's no reason not to bypass it, why do we even have a tach filter?
Thanks,
Jerry

I don't think the issue here is with the console. Because the Tach started up again when I was fooling with the the filter, I think it's related. This is apparently not uncommon.
Thanks again for the resource.
