Hoist is hooked up to engine... Any last words of wisdom??
All I have to do is unbolt the bellhousing bolts and check for any wires that may still be hooked up to the block. Any more advice you can give me?

Keep your feet out from underneath. Seriously though be careful of the windshield and hood. I didn't come within 6" of each, but it can get dangerous real quick if you aren't careful.

Make sure the three torque converter to flexplate bolts are removed. Just making sure because it can be a bear to reinstall the torque coveter to the transmission if it slips out.

Take it slow and steady...and it helps to have some extra muscle around, but it's not necessary...WATCH THE WINDSHIELD!

The converter slides out and in.
Biggest thing is to make sure it fully seats.
Spin it as you slide it in and you can feel it engaging and seating.
I measured from the bell housing face to the converter bolt mounts of the old one and made sure the new one measured the same seated.
Heard to many stories of people not pushing it in enough and damaging the pump teeth when they tightened the bellhousing bolts.
Also my Vigilanti instructions said to fill the converter with a quart of fluid right before you lift it in place. If you go quickly, it won't spill out.
It also said to check for about a 1/16 inch clearance between the flywheel and the converter mount bolt pads. If it is larger than that they recommended using washers to fill the gap and not pulling the coverter out to match the flywheel.

just curious...but how do you get to those bellhousing bolts? i looked at them while installing my exhaust, and they look like they would require an act of contortion to get at :(

The bottom and top ones weren't too bad. It is the two on either side midway up. You can just BARELY get a wrench on them, and then you have to turn a little, switch sides, turn a little more, use the box end to turn a bit more, then go back to the open end again. The good part is once they're loose, you can squeeze your hands up there and undo them with your fingers. :smash:
