1984 Oil pan questions??
So I'm looking at the oil pan in my 84 while it was up on a hoist, it just so happens that I have another small block chevy sitting in my shop from another car. The engine on the stand has a Moroso deep sump oil pan on it, but looking at the pan on my 84 Corvette, it looks like the 1984 pan is actually BIGGER then the deep sump pan that is on my other engine.
The front part of the pan on my 84 corvette is deeper, it doesn't kick up as much towards the front of the engine until it gets closer to the timing cover.
So...is the stock pan on an 84 Corvette anything special or good?? Does it hold more oil?? Baffles?? etc.. Or was I lucky and the previous owner just helped me out a bit?? I have not changed the oil on the car (yet), I was THINKING about getting a different pan when I do so, but looks like it might be a waste?
Advice??
Thanks for reading people.

My stock pan is 5ish quarts to full with a filter. I don't believe there is anything special about it. Looked like regular oil pan when I had it off.

I thought my '84 oil pan was stock, so I was surprised to find the exotic baffles and oil control doors in it when I had it off. I still don't know whether that's stock, or something special a PO put on it! I wish I'd taken some pictures.

My 91 has a set of threads coming out of it for the oil level sender. Not sure about the 84. Pictures suggest you don't. Why do you need more oil? Why pay more to fill it unless you really need it?

The stock 84 Vette pan has baffles and a swing door.

Thanks, 383! There are two doors in the baffles for oil control during aggressive right and left cornering! I was surprised there is also a crankshaft windage tray/screen mounted to the main bearing caps. I guess GM wanted the engine to survive the wild 1 G cornering these '84's are famous for! I had to add a rubber head-bump pad to my roof frame! Ouch!!
I'm puzzled about 84 4+3's "ordinary" oil pan.

Ground clearance is minimal with the 7 qt. Moroso under my 409. It's about 1/4" below the crossmember, and if it were'nt such a heavy gage steel, would probably be hammered to unuseability bye road detritus.
I no lonmger fix things that "ain't broke".
