Default Filling Differential

So I've seen post recommending 2 bottles of limited slip additive rather than one. Can't hurt, right.

Then today I was reading the FSM (92 model year page 0B-11) and it states 12oz gear lubricant and 12oz additive. Since the bottles are 4oz, should the fill really be three bottles?

Quantity in containers is an error in the FSM.

1052271 was actually 23OZ and the 1052358 was 4OZ packages.

The 1052271 might have at one time been 24OZ but I have GM still and the container I have is 23OZ.

2 bottles!!!

Don't see how packaging is relevant. The FSM calls for amounts in ounces. 12 oz each. The FSM doesn't mention bottles.

2 Bottles as currently available would only be 8 ounces.

In most year FSM it's mentioned 4OZ in the 'CAPACITIES' section at nearly the same location in the FSM. '92 just mentions using additive in addition to fluid. Most year FSM actually I believe mention 'bottle'.

Relevance?

Hel!! do as you wish .....

When I did mine this past spring I used one 4oz bottle of friction modifier and almost two quarts of gear lube.

same here - per my 85 FSM, a 4oz bottle of GM additive, and fill to the add port - about 1.5 quarts of gear lube. I've been using Castrol 80W90 gear oil. seems to be working just fine -

2 bottles got to be a habit after use in some old 12-bolts that saw rather severe duty. I actually think I broke that habit a few years ago but memory of 2 came to mind.

I believe that most FSM will actually mention 4OZ in the capacities section if it's there at all.
