82 and 84 motor differences

If block casting number is only requirement you could expand the search to include '85. Pistons are the same as well as the block casting ID. Whatever is least expensive and 'local' I'd think.

Thanks for the heads up. It is a little far for me to drive at this time, especially with the weather coming in. The price is right though.
I've been eyeing a 82 complete motor and tranny in IL for $1500. Was a takeout with 82k miles when they went with a bigger motor in the car. I need to sell my old truck first though and i've been trying since May last year to do so.
