As Mr. Peabody stated, I will agree:
The Continental DWS Extreme Contacts. They are tough to beat for an all around tire. That is what my dad will be putting on his C4 next with the sawblade wheels.
As for me, I run the Firestone Firehawk Indys on my C5 (sticky summer tire).

Another vote for the Conti. They're a great tire. They consistently place at or near the top in independent tire tests at a moderate price point.

Continental Extreme Contact DW tires are on my '96 CE and were a great improvement over the OE tires (but they were both old, flat spotted and age hardened). I am happy with their dry and wet grip and expect the current versions would be fine for the street also.

They are great for the street, as long as you don't drive when it's colder than 45F. Again, I got that straight from Continental themselves. Any colder than that, if the tire incurs damage from being driven you are own your own for replacing it. My guess is that they're really okay down to 32F or thereabouts, but that's just a guess.

You never know if there are better options unless you try/ask. If I don't like them
Cooper has Free 45-Day Road Test. I use Discount Tire who also has a return if not
happy. That said I would rather not get something others have not been happy with,
if unhappy numbers are abundant.

What do you guys think of the Mickey Thompson Street Comps? Those are on my car ('96 CE convertible), though to be honest. since I just got the car as winter came in I have driven it very little. They seem to be quiet, not sure yet about grip or wear. Reasonably priced. Might be another decent alternative.

I have 275 40 17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tires at the moment amazing grip levels, they are by far the best tires i have ever had on my C4 over the last 20 years.
Total confidence in the wet or dry with a smooth vibration free ride, pity they are so damn expensive and going to a different tread design.
