Idle between 1200 and 1800 RPM
'94 automatic, 270K miles.
My car has started to idle too fast, 1200 to 1800 RPM. No codes. I checked for intake leaks with starting fluid. No apparent leaks. Cleaned the MAF and TB. Changed the IAC and TPS. Still no joy. TB is closing to the stop. Any other ideas that I'm not thinking of?
It seems to settle down after about a half hour to 45 minutes of driving.

..... Lubricate the throttle body shaft where it passes through the aluminum housing from the inside (throttle plate side) with a spray silicone or Teflon based penetrating lube ... work the throttle by hand while spraying liberally ... engine off , of course .....

2 options. Start throwing more parts at it or get a scanner and see what exactly is going on. I'd like to know what your IAC counts are and see where we go from there. Why did you change the IAC and TPS? How did you know they were bad? Did you clean the TB with the IAC housing off as well and the TB plate and the passages?
I changed the IAC and TPS as part of my trouble shooting and I already had them from my old Impala SS. Yes I cleaned (sprayed) the TB with the IAC removed. I did not remove the TB from the car or take the plate off the top, however.
I have worse problems now. The opti died on the way to work this morning.

The opti was definitely bad.
Will scan9495 give me any useful information?
Can I use the ECM from my 96 Impala SS for troubleshooting?

Supposedly ALDLDroid can. I know my old Auto X-ray could. I know my SnapOn MT2500 can. Someone said Actron can but last time I checked it, it wouldn't and the manufacturer said they don't support anything that old so if it works, good for you. If not, we are not going to rewrite it although we bought the Auto X-ray company out.
