C4 dana 44/36
I'm in the planning stages of a project and I need some quality real world information please.
I have a 59 chevy fleetside with ls3/TR6060 with C4 front and rear suspension, should weigh out to 3200 lbs. the rear is dana 36 I plan to boost this to lets say 500-600 hp. not planning to drag race this maybe every once in a while but plenty of burnouts and banging gears.
can a dana 36/44 handle this or do I have to spend $$$$$ on a ford 9 inch?

The D36 for sure NOT, the D44 it's very likely it could/would. Much depends on the maintenance it's seen and actual condition.
I believe the 9" is maybe over-kill but if you're only in the planning stages is the IRS a necessity for the rear?
I'd think likely NOT.

The D36 can handle that power level, but it depends on what youre doing with the car. My 88 makes that amount of torque and I've had a D36 still in there for 5 years.
But I drive on street tires, I can do burnouts without a problem.
If I went to the strip, theres a good chance I'd hook up and snap a half shaft or grenade the rear otherwise if I put on DRs or slicks. It might last 100 passes on DRs, it might not last 1. Street tires, it should last almost forever. So if I were a drag racer I'd go with a D44 until I broke that.
A 9" would be overkill unless you were going to drag race it very often.
