Default NXT Performance on 96 LT1 car

Well, I could not find this comparison so I had to bite the bullet myself. $400 on Amazon.

My analysis: lower tone more aggressive idle. It no longer sounds like a Cadillac.

Sounds good from that clip. Since everybody else will ask, I'll go ahead and do it: how is the drone from ~1700-2000rpm?

Its there. Not horrible but there. Abruptly falls off at 2k. Which is another reason I need a new differential. Mine is a 2:59 ratio. Im auto.. around town if I keep it in 2nd its fine. In freeway I keep it out of overdrive. But like I said, its not a bad drone but it is there.

Im working on some easy to install baffles the Harley crowd uses. I'll post when complete and tested. I was expecting a small drone with existing stock exhaust. If this was modified.. cats removed and so on, this would likely be a bad drone.. but that is just a guess.

Mine is not a daily driver but I despise drone.

Please do bring that info back to us. It would be very useful!

Will do.. for $400.. I would recommend these if not a daily driver or if you are under the age of 35.

I will update, I promise.. would like to give back to the community here and I know no one has done this for the LT1 for the NXT mufflers and Im sure many are wondering...

Sounds good IMO. Could you take a picture from the side of the car at wheel level? I’m curious how well the muffler tuck up underneath.

The snapshot might be deceptive but 'extension beyond' fascia actually effects the 'drone' and it has to be remembered 'drone' is a personal issue that may or may not be deemed an issue for all. These extensions seem short - maybe the snapshot!!

Will a ratio change correct the drone for the OP? The inserts he mentions? Very likely the ratio change would - baffles/inserts?

You are correct.. oddly, its difficult to extend much/any more.. but doable with some work.. but I already slightly modified to get them out that far.. the attachments to mounts are not mounted far enough back.. so I may meed to get some new ones tig welded on.

One could play a lot to try and get rid of the drone.. Im going to say this again.. Im a drone phobic..Its not bad WITH stock everything else.. I think the guys that experience drone with ANY muffler are also removing other "stuff".. cats, in my opinion probably have a big influence.. I mean just look at the things.. big sound chambers..

Anyway.. Im happy.. once I get my 3:xx ratio in its gonna be a non factor I think.. I am also getting used to playing with staying in no overdrive around town.. Its a simple shift on a auto trans but you have to get pre-programmed.. I tell ya, with a 2:59 running under 40 in OD is lugging the crap out of this motor.. this was ALL done for EPA requirements.. there would never be a OD in a vette if it werent for the EPA and MPG requirements to keep it off the guzzler tax radar.

I also think maybe pushing them out 3/4" might help as you suggest.. good eye

I have no objection.. I kinda miss the stock LT1 rectangular outlets.. but everyone else says "I like that better".
