Drivers window no down and probably no up
It worked fine before and after I got the 1984 a few weeks ago.
I have bought 2 factory service manuals. It looks like the pdf images are the same at least for the images I looked at. For the images regarding the fuses even when blown up they are not legible. The passenger window works but slow going up.
Is there a fuse, relay or what and does someone have a legible image of the fuses and relays ??
I did get the cover off the fuse panel.
Having problems with the driver seat not going forward but works going back.

The 84 Windows are slow. They use a ribbon instead of a conventional scissor type regulator. For the seat not moving it is probably the switch getting old. Mine only moves if you push it to a certain spot.
I don't recall if there is a separate relay for each window.

Regarding early regulators - one has to inspect and see if they were ever changed to newer style. If familiar with operation of both I guess you could maybe 'feel' by operation. Older GM that used ribbons best I recall had a sort of 'feel' to them.

Window motors will sometimes "stick" in one position. To check if your getting 12v to the window motor & it is stuck: Key on, watch the interior lights & press the window switch.
If the interior lights dim the electrical circuit is ok = the window motor is stuck.
Here's an old used car lot fix that may work for you.
Insure that the battery is fully charged. Sit in the vehicle, ign on, hold the window switch down & slam the door closed. May have to do it several times.
Good luck.

The interior lights dim slightly when the driver window switch is pushed to the up or down position. I should take the door panel off. the mechanism probably needs cleaning and lube.

The window motor may be shot anyway, mine failed by the glue holding the magnet to the can turning to powder; it still took power and clunked a little. Still amazed those were only held by glue, even tiny motors in a R/C car at least use a decent spring wire to hold those!
As far as the "ribbon" feel, the big item is SLOW. Pretty sure an '84 can install a new scissor regulator to fix that, might as well if the motor is bad anyway.
Can you hear the motor at all? It may sit and spin free if the ribbon is shot, common problem with those.

I have the inner door panel off.
There is a tin panel that apparently needs to be removed to get anything out.
And the window needs to me removed, which I cannot move up or down. The youtube videos I have watched have not covered this.
Any suggestions ??

If you undo the track through the door and disconnect the window from the regulator you can fish it through without removing that panel. That's what I did.

When I push the switch up or down the interior lights dim slightly. The motor may be stuck.
It is parked in the sun and too hot to work on it today, maybe tomorrow.

See if you can get a hold of a factory service manual. It outlines the steps you need to do for every project on your car. You won't have to guess. It's all explained in detail with schematics.

Thanks 383 Vette. [ 10.538@132.87 good numbers, how much $$ to get there?]
I bought two service manuals and here is a link to download one for free.

they don't go into that much detail on the window motors and the image quality is poor. YouTube has several but I am .still confused
