Default What are the correct sun visors for an '85?

The visors in my 85 are toast. There are two different styles available on ebay with lighted vanity mirrors but I'm not sure which ones are correct for the car. Here they are:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-1996-C...19.m1438.l2649

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-96-COR...19.m1438.l2649

The drivers side visor in my car has a lighted mirror like the ones in the second ebay link, the passenger side visor has no mirror. However, here's a passenger side visor on ebay that's in an '85 in a junkyard and it has a lighted mirror like the one in the first ebay link:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CORVETTE-19...19.m1438.l2649

Which visor is correct for an '85? I'm thinking that maybe the one on the drivers side in my car has been replaced sometime in the past by a previous owner but who knows. Personally I kinda like the visors in the first link better than the ones in the second link but before I buy I'd like to hear some opinions from people on here first. The visors in the first link have a larger mirror and a manual switch to turn the lights on, the ones in the second link have a smaller mirror but the lights turn on automatically when you open the lid. Anybody know the pros and cons of these visors?

The first link is correct for an '85.

I have an original 1986 coupe where the drivers side does not have the vanity mirror with light. Only the passenger side has the mirror. I would think the 1985 would have been the same? And the drivers side is plain material on both sides not like the second link with the warning on it.

correct - the 85 corvette has only one vanity mirror located on the passengers side. the drivers visor has some sort of elastic map strap. here's a set listed on fleabay that would be more correct for the 1985 model year --

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Corvette-19...dWquLH&vxp=mtr

note from ad -- LH Has Map Strap and RH Has Lighted Vanity Mirror
Early C4's Have A Different Plug
. Will Need To Install Old
Visor Plug on New Visor.

Yup, above is correct. I forgot about the elastic map strap which is also on my 86.

I think you guys might be forgetting that the driver and passenger vanity mirrors were separate options. You need to look at the RPO codes to see if your car originally came with one.

I think D64 is passenger D74 is driver.

I don't believe D74 (driver) was an available option until '87.

It would be interesting to know for sure if a driver's side vanity mirror was an option in 85. I'd like to have vanity mirrors in both visors if for nothing else to have the extra lighting available for the interior. If a drivers side vanity mirror visor was available as an option I wonder if the wiring is already there for it even if it didn't come with it. If not I guess it would be easy enough to tap into the wiring for the passenger side vanity mirror.

Anyway, thanks for all the replies so far everybody, at least I now know which style visor is correct for the car.

D74 was a $58 option in '87 and I don't see the option for an '86. I'd say that suffices for your availability question. It appears that only about 1/2 of the buyers opted for it.

Wasn't sure what year it became available. I'm skeptical that there's a map strap on the '85 I'll have to check my car this weekend, the sun visors tend to be floppy without adding crap to them so I've never really paid attention.

Not to say that if mine doesn't have a map strap that it wasn't available, I also had overdrive on the center console instead of the shifter which moved part way through the '85 run as well as a few other oddities.

my 85 has a map strap, and i'm 99.99% sure it's original to the car. I was not aware of the D74 option (available for the 87 model year).

That's something that has always given me a chuckle when it comes to restoring more 'modern' cars to NCRS levels. There was so much, "use this until the parts bin is empty" that you can find some great inconsistencies.

It's also funny because I cannot think of the last time I flipped down my drivers side sun visor in the last ten years, I'm always afraid the silly cardboard thing is going to come apart.

Yup, original to the car. My 85 has the same strap since day one.
