Waking up my 90 convert from a 12 year sleep
Good morning. I have a 1990 convertible. Needed to figure out what the strange noise was coming from my ZF transmission. I figured i would get to over the winter. Well that was 12 years ago! I finally got around to it and pulled the transmission. Pilot bearing literally fell out of the case when I pulled the transmission. Had some oil leaks from the oil pan and rear seal. I decided to re gasket most of the engine. cleaned everything up and ready to re-install. I have the injectors getting cleaned. Looking to install the plenum and intake tubes. Ran in to a gasket issue.Seems like GM parts guy have me confused. I have purchased the lower tube gaskets and upper tube gaskets. The GM parts sent me 2-lower sets. So I search the web for part# and get conflicting information. Gm parts guy says I need to order #10148096 upper gasket. at $125.00 I ask how can 2 gasket cost that much? I check the web and I see pictures of this gasket ,but it's a complete intake manifold kit. Gm guy says its only the upper 2 gaskets. I determine I need upper gasket #12508751. The GM guy says this part is only for 85-89 upper gasket. Again back to the web. Some site say # 12508751 is 85-91 other say 85-89 only. I think there is a restrictor hole in the 90 gasket. I can seem to find a part# for the 1990 upper plenum gasket.
Any advise one of you gentleman can give me on the correct part?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the welcome. I will pose a question on the C-4 tech.section. The car is in exceptional condition only 35K miles. I live in Vancouver BC. I purchased the car back in 1993. After it's little sleep and some disassembly,it was time for some TLC. found a NOS Valeo clutch disc and throw out bearing. The old disk was a little oily from the rear seal weeping. I concluded it was time for a re gasket and touch up all the dirty spots. Throttle body has water leak, block heater leak, oil pan leaking, clutch cylinders need rebuilding ,injector cleaning, brakes etc, etc. Basically if it had fluid in it it was serviced/rebuilt. At the point of collecting all the gaskets and new fluids for re-assembly. That C-beam is going to be fun putting back in!!
Thanks again
